Defense
Defense systems protect a spacecraft from various threats, including lasers, physical impacts, electromagnetic attacks, and more.
Defense systems cover shields, armor, and stealth modules designed to enhance a ship's survivability in dangerous environments or combat scenarios. These modules improve in strength, durability, and effectiveness as their dice ratings increase.
EM Deflector Shields
EM deflector shields are designed to protect the ship from energy-based attacks such as lasers or radiation. These shields deflect or absorb incoming energy to reduce the damage dealt to the ship.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Minimal protection, suitable only for small energy impacts or radiation. |
D6 | Moderate shield strength, able to deflect small laser attacks and protect against minor radiation exposure. |
D8 | High-level energy protection, capable of blocking medium-powered laser attacks and protecting the ship in hazardous energy zones. |
D10 | Strong shields that can withstand high-powered energy attacks and provide robust protection against sustained laser fire. |
D12 | Maximum protection against all types of energy attacks, including sustained and concentrated fire from multiple sources. |
EMP Shielding
EMP shielding protects the ship’s electronic systems from electromagnetic pulses, which can otherwise disable or severely damage critical components such as navigation, communication, and weapons systems.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Basic shielding provides protection against weak EMP bursts but vulnerable to stronger pulses. |
D6 | Moderate EMP resistance, capable of protecting key systems from medium-range EMP attacks. |
D8 | Strong EMP protection for most ship systems, able to withstand multiple EMP pulses without losing functionality. |
D10 | Advanced shielding, providing near-complete protection from powerful EMPs that would otherwise disable larger ships. |
D12 | Maximum EMP resistance, ensuring full protection against even the most powerful and sustained electromagnetic attacks, without any system disruption. |
Kinetic Shields
Kinetic shields provide protection from physical impacts such as debris, asteroids, or projectiles. These shields deflect or absorb the energy from collisions to prevent hull damage.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Basic protection against small debris and minor physical impacts. |
D6 | Moderate protection, capable of deflecting small projectiles and absorbing impacts from minor collisions. |
D8 | Strong kinetic protection, able to withstand medium-sized projectiles and physical attacks. |
D10 | High-level kinetic shielding, protecting against large debris, collisions, and high-powered projectiles. |
D12 | Maximum protection, capable of deflecting large objects and withstanding major physical impacts, including large-scale projectiles. |
Ablative Armor
Ablative armor is designed to protect the ship’s hull from energy weapons by vaporizing layers of the armor upon impact, dispersing the energy and minimizing damage to the ship itself. It is especially effective against lasers and other energy-based attacks.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Thin, light ablative armor, effective against minor energy attacks but wears down quickly. |
D6 | Moderate ablative armor that can absorb multiple low-energy hits before degradation. |
D8 | Strong armor capable of handling medium-energy attacks, with durability to withstand repeated strikes. |
D10 | Highly durable ablative armor, capable of absorbing high-energy attacks and protecting the ship from prolonged fire. |
D12 | Maximum ablative armor, able to endure extreme energy attacks for long periods, ensuring minimal hull damage. |
Stealth Coating
Stealth coatings reduce the ship’s electromagnetic and radar signature, making it harder to detect by enemy sensors. This is critical for ships that need to operate covertly in hostile or heavily monitored environments.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Basic coating that provides a minor reduction in radar and EM signature. |
D6 | Moderate stealth capability, reducing radar and EM visibility significantly. |
D8 | High-level stealth coating, making the ship difficult to detect by most conventional radar and sensor systems. |
D10 | Advanced stealth technology, providing near-invisibility to radar and sensor systems, only detectable by the most advanced tracking systems. |
D12 | Maximum stealth, rendering the ship almost entirely invisible to all forms of detection, including radar, EM sensors, and visual tracking. |
Active Cloaking
Active cloaking devices are advanced systems that render the ship invisible to detection systems and even to the naked eye. These devices emit energy that bends light and radiation around the ship, concealing it from view.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Short-duration cloaking, vulnerable to detection after a brief period and leaves a noticeable signature when active. |
D6 | Moderate-duration cloaking, capable of hiding the ship for longer periods with improved concealment. |
D8 | Long-duration cloaking, masking emissions effectively and providing near-complete invisibility for extended missions. |
D10 | Advanced cloaking, capable of hiding all emissions, making the ship invisible even during maneuvers and system operations. |
D12 | Maximum cloaking, fully conceals the ship from all detection systems and emissions, allowing for undetectable long-term operations. |
Decoy Launchers
Decoy launchers deploy objects that mimic the ship’s radar, heat, and electromagnetic signatures, confusing enemy sensors and weapons. These decoys are essential for ships trying to evade detection or avoid being targeted by enemy weapons.
RANK | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
D4 | Launches 1 basic radar decoy, mimicking the ship’s signature for a brief period before being detected as a decoy. |
D6 | Launches 2 decoys with moderate radar and heat signatures, capable of misleading basic sensor systems for a longer time. |
D8 | Launches 4 decoys with advanced radar, heat, and EM signatures, making it difficult for most systems to distinguish between the decoy and the ship. |
D10 | Launches 6 decoys with highly advanced signatures, able to fool most enemy systems and remain undetected for longer periods. |
D12 | Launches 8 intelligent decoys, capable of fully mimicking the ship’s full signature, making them indistinguishable from the ship to all sensors. |
