Social Security

Social Security is a fundamental welfare program in the New World Order, ensuring that no citizen is left without a home or the basic means to survive.

Social Security was designed to combat the long-term threat posed by homelessness and food insecurity. On Earth, these issues were the foundation of widespread social unrest, contributing to instability and undermining the social order. As wealth inequality reached extreme levels, the failure to address basic human needs became a critical threat to societal cohesion. In response, Social Security was established as a pillar of the New World Order to prevent the same issues from arising in the colonies.

Through the Social Security program and its network of Villages, the New World Order ensures that no citizen is left behind. It addresses the root causes of social unrest that once threatened Earth, safeguarding the stability of the colonies by providing every individual with a path to economic independence or lifelong care.

The Villages Model

The centerpiece of the social security program is the network of Villages, assisted living facilities for low-income citizens. Villages are secure, planned, campus-style communities that provide a comprehensive range of services aimed at ensuring every citizen has the means to survive and thrive:

HOUSING: Villages provide modular single or couple apartment pods, ensuring that no citizen is homeless or lacks a safe, private living space.

HEALTHCARE: Physical and mental health services are available at local clinics within each Village, ensuring that basic healthcare is easily accessible.

FREE MEALS: Public cafeterias offer nutritious meals to all villagers, eliminating the risk of food insecurity.

TRAINING PROGRAMS: Villagers have access to basic skills training programs offered by Trade Guilds, giving employable citizens the tools they need to improve their economic circumstances.

CHARITY CENTERS: Donation centers provide essential goods such as clothing and household items, ensuring that everyone has access to the necessities of daily life.

Villages are designed around the "housing first" theory of welfare assistance, which prioritizes stable housing as the foundation for personal and economic recovery. By guaranteeing that no citizen has to worry about homelessness or hunger, the Villages create an environment where individuals can focus on improving their lives.

For those unable to maintain employment due to physical or mental disabilities, Villages provide compassionate care. In many cases, Trade Guilds offer special contracts tailored for these individuals, allowing them to contribute through work suited to their abilities. These villagers earn a small income for personal use, preserving their dignity and allowing them to participate in society.

Synth Integration

Villages also serve as the starting point for Synthetic Humans (Synths), who are introduced to colonies with basic education and the physical and mental maturity of young adults. Synths are given the opportunity to develop additional trade skills and pursue employment through Trade Guild programs, allowing them to integrate into colony society.
